WHAT WE BELIEVE

WE BELIEVE IN THE FOLLOWING FUNDAMENTAL DOCTRINES:-
  1. The inspiration of The Bible: We believe that The Bible, containing 66 books, is the divinely inspired word of God;is infallible; and should be the supreme and final authority in the faith and practices of Christians.

  2. The Holy Trinity: We believe in God’s existence as the number one in the Holy Trinity of: The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit.

  3. The person of The Almighty God: We believe that God is supreme in His attributes; The One who created the whole universe and everything in it; glorious in his perfection; infinite and eternal in His existence; and the head of the Holy Trinity.

  4. The person of The Lord Jesus Christ: We believe that Christ is the second person in the Holy Trinity; the image of the invisible God; everything was created by Him, through Him and for Him; in His virgin birth in this world; He is the head of the body, the Church;  His deity, His sinless life, His vicarious death, His bodily resurrection and ascension to Heaven; and His exaltation and seating of Him on His right side by The Father; in His role as intercessor for His children.  We believe that He is God, incarnated in this world in the form of a sinless man, offered Himself as the ultimate sacrifice for the redemption and reconciliation of the sinful mankind; the only mediator through whom any sinner can be saved and reconciled with The Father. We believe in his personal pre-millennial return. We believe that he has preeminence in all things.

  5. The person of the Holy Spirit: We believe that the Holy Spirit is the executive of the Godhead. He executes the plans of God including the conviction of sins and leading people to salvation in Christ; leads and guides the Christian believers in this world as the comforter, counselor, and the empowering Spirit of Truth.

  6. The fall of man: We believe that man was created in the image of God; but by choice fell into sin and death by disobedience. Every human being is born in sinful state and under condemnation to eternal judgment, thus need the redemption from that state by being born again in Christ.

  7. The salvation of sinners: We believe that the salvation of sinners is possible wholly by GRACE, and that Jesus Christ, the only begotten son of God who tasted the vicarious death by shedding his precious blood, is the only way of salvation, as He claimed “I am The Way, The truth, and The Life”.

  8. The fullness and freeness of salvation: We believe that the blessing of salvation is made full and free to every sinner who confesses his/her sin and accept Jesus Christ as the personal savior, and that nothing prevents the salvation of even the greatest sinner on earth, but his/her own inherent depravity and voluntary rejection of Christ.

  9. The Security of the believer: We believe that those who receive Jesus Christ as the personal Savior are eternally secure. Our security rests upon the finished work of Jesus Christ and as a result, we have the full assurance.

  10. The doctrine of the Church: We believe that the visible Global church is the Body or the Bride of Christ, consisting of all the saved and baptized believers all over the world, practicing New Testament principles, and believing in it’s ordinances. The local church is an integral part of the Global church functioning in the same fashion but is autonomous. We believe in the pre-tribulation and pre-millennial return of Christ for the rapture of His Church to be with Him first, as he has promised, and later to setup His millennial reign on the hearth.

  11. The doctrine of the Heaven and Hell: We believe in the eternal blessedness of the saved in Christ in Heaven, and the eternal punishment of the lost in Hell.

HISTORY OF KERALA BRETHREN CHURCH

1872

Mathai, a CMS Evangelist from Thirunalveli came to Kerala with a novel message in 1872. Anthony Norris Groves, who was one of the founder leaders of Brethren Movement in England, was the first Brethren Missionary to arrive in India. John Arulappan was one of his disciples. Mathai who was a disciple of Arulappan spoke of the death of Jesus Christ, His second coming and millennium regime in his messages.
